Between municipal and county parks, there are many outdoor recreational areas in Cranford.
There are 15 parks listed on the Cranford Parks and Facilities website. All of the parks are lovely, but their strengths differ.
Hanson Park, on Springfield Avenue, is usually serene, with gardens and meadows.
Lincoln Park, on the other hand, is often busy with athletes on the basketball courts and children on the impressive playground. It is located on Lincoln Avenue, not surprisingly.

There are 2 county parks that are in Cranford, in whole or in part, and have picnic areas:
Nomahegan Park is across from Union College, on Springfield Avenue. It features a 2-mile long, multiuse trail, along with a large playground, and soccer and softball fields.
Unami Park is surrounded by Cranford, Westfield, and Garwood. There's one picnic area there, beside a nice playground. Features include tennis courts, a basketball court, and baseball and soccer fields.
The picnic areas of Union County parks usually already have tables and seating. However, we can still help with tents or outdoor games, like cornhole.
To use the picnic areas in any Union County park, you must reserve the date and follow the relevant guidelines.
We'll deliver most of what you need for a great party, but you'll have to supply the food. Here are some local restaurants that have catering menus.
Vinny's Pizza & Pasta serves up traditional Italian food and sandwiches. Vinny first opened a successful restaurant in Cranford 30 years ago. He left town for a bit, but returned in 2012, thankfully.
Looking for a more gourmet-style menu? Venue 104 may be the caterer you need. Just glance at the menu and you'll see the influence of cuisines from around the world.
If you want seriously solid sandwiches, you should check out Sub-Ology. Back in the day, there was a great sub shop in Cranford called the Pink Submarine. This is a worthy successor.
The ravioli at Pastosa is great. There's a reason they put "ravioli" right there in their logo. But they aren't just ravioli. They have an extensive catering menu.
If you like burgers and BBQ, consider having your event catered by Urban Burger, which is on Eastman Street, a few doors down from Track 5 Coffee.
Talk about a Cranford institution. Marino's Seafood has been operating since 1945!
Perrotti's has been around since 1967, and over the years they started selling prepared meals. Now, they cater with "heat-and-serve" American and Italian dishes.
